Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
- Lead and manage the design team for substation projects.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
- Oversee the preparation of substation layouts, elevations, and detail drawings.
- Develop detailed designs and drawings for electrical substations, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and grounding plans.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and other design tools to produce accurate and comprehensive drawings.
- Ensure that designs comply with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers and drafters.
- Review and validate design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and standards.
- Conduct thorough reviews of design documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Implement quality control processes to maintain high standards in design deliverables.
- Address and resolve design-related issues and discrepancies.
- Work closely with electrical engineers, civil engineers, and other team members to integrate all aspects of substation design.
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and contractors to gather requirements and provide project updates.
- Prepare and present design reports and documentation to stakeholders.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in substation design, with a focus on high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substations.
- Proven track record of leading design teams and managing complex projects.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and other design tools.
- Strong understanding of electrical substation components, systems, and design principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., NETA, IEEE) are a plus.
- Office-based with occasional site visits.
- May require travel to project sites, client meetings, and industry conferences.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
