Medical Coder/Biller
Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite, flexible hours)
Pay: $24–26/hour ($49K–$54K annually)
Type: Temp-to-Hire, Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Imprimis Group, Inc. has partnered with a growing medical billing firm in the Dallas area seeking an experienced and certified Medical Coder/Biller to join their team. This role offers a family-friendly, flexible work environment with excellent benefits and growth opportunities.

The Coder/Biller will review patient records, apply accurate coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), process daily batches, resolve rejections/denials, and manage billing for multiple specialties and clients. The ideal candidate is CPC certified, detail-oriented, and able to balance productivity with accuracy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Post and balance daily encounter batches in the billing system.

  • Review and update charges according to documentation and super-bills.

  • Submit claims through clearinghouses (Waystar, Change Healthcare, Availity, etc.) and resolve rejections.

  • Investigate, correct, and re-submit insurance denials.

  • Track and update patient insurance information and maintain accurate billing records.

  • Prepare private and industrial account statements.

  • Generate required posting shift reports and assist with month-end processing.

  • Mentor less experienced staff and assist with training new hires.

  • Communicate professionally with patients, providers, coworkers, and third-party representatives.

  • Respond to inquiries regarding patient account balances.

  • Collaborate daily with the Billing Supervisor to prioritize workflow.

  • Support other coders when workload allows and assist with onboarding new clients.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Productivity Ranges (per day)

  • Lab: 75–125 claims

  • Inpatient/Outpatient/ER: 75–125 claims

  • Imaging: 150–175 claims

  • ASC Pain Mgmt: 50–60 claims

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of state, federal, and commercial carrier guidelines.

  • Ability to meet defined production and performance goals.

  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve billing/coding challenges quickly.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Flexible, team-oriented, and willing to learn new systems and processes.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Experience & Education

  • Certification: CPC required (CPC-A acceptable). AHIMA or AAPC equivalent considered.

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years coding/billing required; hospital billing strongly preferred. Open to new grads with certification if flexible and willing to learn.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Specialties & Systems

  • Experience coding/billing in one or more: Imaging, Pain Mgmt, Orthopedic Pain, Behavioral Health, and Lab.

  • Knowledge of vascular coding and dialysis preferred.

  • Systems: HealthPac, Waystar/Zirmed, CPSI, NexGen, eClinicalWorks, Athena (others may apply).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $24–26/hour (closer to $24/hr for 1–2 years of experience; up to $26/hr for 3–5 years).

  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401K, PTO, attendance bonus, and company-wide monthly bonus based on collections goals.

  • Schedule: Flexible 7:30–4:30 or 8–5 (overtime rare). Family-friendly accommodations available.
